Sabil-Kuttab: Architectural Gem of Cairo

The usage of the word 'gem' is to show how unique these structures are, as they are only to be found in Cairo. They come in many different shapes and sizes, as well as design. There's the Mamluk-era Sabil-Kuttab of Qaitbay, quite a handsome building I'm looking forward visiting it, and then the one built by Katkhuda the chief of the Ottoman janissaries. These were built according to traditional Cairene design (with Ottoman influence in Ottoman sabil-kuttabs).

As the world enters the 19th century, sabil-kuttabs were given a European touch. Search for the one built by Muhammad Ali Pasha of Egypt.
